Bird Documentary Flight - Exploring the Life of Birds Wins Two International Awards
Taijiang National Park is a bird paradise situated at the crossroads of the East Asian-Australasian Flyway. To let the public learn more about the intricate details of birds' flight, feeding, migration, feathering, and breeding, the National Park Service, Ministry of the Interior commissioned Liao Dong-Kun to direct the nature documentary Flight - Exploring the Life of Birds, which took more than two years to conceptualize and film. It earned the recognition of two international film festivals, the WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival and the Accolade Global Film Competition. This is a great honor for Taiwan, and a great affirmation and encouragement for the national park, the film crew, and the conservation of Taijiang's avifauna
During the filming process, we also saw the drastic impact of climate change on migratory birds—what we can do is to provide better quality habitats. The East Asian-Australasian Flyway zone spans more than 13,000 kilometers, and Taiwan is located right at the hub, so it is both our pride and responsibility to be the land of respite for migratory birds.
